With everything else going on, the arrival of the Harbingers and Starmovers seems a long time ago, but in one realm of Questing Country the marks of what happened then are still very visible. The Transformed Lands remain: but as one realm of dream among many, where their creators have been hard at work to stabilise and safely integrate the region into Questing Country, leaving the rest of the environment undamaged and unchanged. A stranger area than most, true, but one with active caretakers doing their best.

And it's this way that Kanji, his winged friends, and the other Travellers wanting to investigate and ask a few questions find themselves heading...

WARNINGS: Mentions of the AU Altean colony, in which the Alteans reacted badly to something on the planet Lotor chose and most didn't survive. Also vague mentions of the Shade walkabout where he killed the Shade inhabiting Allura's body, and basically just lots of distorted thoughts of Bad Memories as he tries not to become the actual Void.

The door to the dungeon isn't anything ostentatious. Rather, it's simply the symbol of the Alliance, though it happens to be dripping blood down the door.

Between all the strangeness in Liminal, there is a certain normalcy to the large standing rock with a crack in the middle that simply stands there, announcing the presence of a dungeon. It looks a lot like the entrance to Laughs' permanent room, and it carries his scent.

It's hard to keep track of everything in Liminal space. Like the passage of time. But Wash does make sure to keep track of and that is Rose's birthday. He's always astounded when it rolls around again.

And this time he's marking it by liminal manipulating up chocolate chip pancakes shaped like the number 4. Good thing for everyone he doesn't have to actually cook them.

Rose likes this Liminal. It's full of all sorts of new things to find, so her explorations are always turning up new rooms.

She's particularly excited when a new door opens to the old liminal space when Emperor and Empress filled the galloping horse with waist high cake.

And that reminds her of something. Look! It's a birthday party

Wash smiles. He had been planning a small party in their rooms with a normal amount of cake. So much for that. "It sure is."

WHERE: A sealed created room in Liminal Space
WHEN: Near the end of the boosted Liminal
WARNINGS: Violence, others to be added as necessary

The large room is all in shades of grey, silver-inlaid stone floors and stone walls lit by glowing white orbs that give off no heat, set into shallow, unornamented recesses. Once the last of those who had agreed to help with the summoning of the Illuminants is inside - or is late enough to make it clear they've been lost somewhere in the shifting chaos and not likely to find their way out any time soon - those walls shiver, and the door leading out into Liminal Space proper vanishes.

No backing out now.

The second door in the room - the one leading to a small chamber holding a few chairs, a sleeping pallet, and a handful of fictional works from varying worlds - remains. Maintaining the layers of protection that shut down portal transit into and out of the room and bend the rules of the space to exclude colour magic doesn't require participation in the summoning ritual or the violence likely to follow.

Gravity release me, don't ever hold me down (Starplot wrap-up)

WHAT: The results of a recent covert operation.
WHERE: Liminal Space!
WHEN: Now!
WARNINGS: Liminal event starts Sunday! Head over here for more details.

The change to Liminal Space starts unobserved, but it’s a slow bleed across the space, and Travelers can watch it finish. Gradually, the rose bowl and its foot balls are replaced by a nighttime landscape, doors to created spaces dotted throughout. The hills, trees, and sky appear to be made of thick oil paint, and at the center of the space is a lake that appears to be made of deep blue ink rather than water.

Some Travelers will find the view overhead familiar in layout, if not appearance. Four smallish white stars form a half-circle around three yellow giants, and the overhead view is dominated by a positively huge bluish-white star. No one has seen this configuration in anything resembling good health before, and the light lends Liminal Space a sense of peace and calm.

Of hope.

Dungeon music.

As the Travelers return to Liminal Space, it's natural for them to disperse to various rooms, and Naoya being tired isn't unusual. Being in an overlay takes it out of him a bit anyway.

What is unusual is the fact that some time later (what is time in Liminal Space?) a patch of the space... shifts. A hallway appears, leaking blue-green mist. The sound of a mewing cat emits from inside, and for those who speak cat more than others it sounds distressed - not in pain, but distinctly upset.

After nine minutes of fighting, any smaller Nation-Eaters remaining will turn and scatter in all directions, loping away as fast as they can. Any activated radios will crackle with squeals and static. The earth will shake and heave in tidal cascades of sand, with a grating sound like thunder.

It comes - outside the city, right into the Travelers' trap. The claws and head burst out of the mountainside together, and it bellows a roar, deafening in a long crescendo that's accompanied by a sense of awe and domination like a tsunami of psychic force.

Sometime after the dance, an unobtrusive-looking wooden door appears, in an out of the way corner of Liminal Space. Iris the mink and Tatiana the dragon wait outside, but strangely, they don't seem terribly upset - concerned, yes, and maybe a little worried, but nowhere near panicking. It's as if they were expecting this.
